Tank Cleaning

 

Our Business is cleaning water tanks! It doesn’t matter what type of water or what it is used for - rain water for drinking, household or garden use, creek, dam or bore water for domestic, rural, commercial or industrial use.

Every tank will need cleaning at some stage. Leaves, dust, dead insects, excrement from vermin or birds accumulates in gutters and on roofs and when it rains these wash into the tank. A good screen will keep the bigger particles out if properly maintained but eventually enough of the smaller particles get through and build up to cause a problem.

Problems occur when contaminants build up enough to provide an environment for the breeding of bacteria, clog pumps and valves, get caught under washers in taps causing them to leak or appear as unsightly “floaties” in your drinking water.

Once bacteria such as Giardia, E. Coli, Cryptosporidium and many others begin to multiply in the tank water they will in time reach a level that will make people sick. The young and the elderly are more susceptible to this early on but eventually the level will increase to the point where anyone drinking the tank water will become sick.

The answer is to have your tank cleaned regularly.

When The Watertank Cleaning Company Central Queensland cleans your tank, I start with inspecting your tank to assess:

​

  • The reason for your problem e.g., a build-up of contaminants, dead animal etc,

  • The integrity of your inlet and overflow screens, piping and general environment,

  • The soundness of your tank and its foundation.
     

Then I set up the equipment
 

  • Pump, hoses and filters,

  • Access equipment, ladders, ropes, torches,

  • Breathing and ventilation equipment (if I have to enter the tank).
     

Now comes the cleaning the tank part
 

  • The dirt and rubbish is pumped out of the tank and “recycled” onto gardens or lawn areas,

  • Frogs and other live critters are caught and removed,

  • The tank water is sterilized as required and the tank is sealed up again ready for use.
     

After that I pack all the equipment up and prepare your invoice
 

  • Everything is packed back on the vehicle and the area is left tidy,

  • I confirm your details for entry into a database so that you can receive a reminder when the next clean is due,

  • I explain any follow up action that may be required.

Tank Repair

 

Is your tank leaking or damaged? It doesn't necessarily mean you have to replace it. We can carry out minor repairs to concrete, fibreglass, metal and poly tanks. We are more than happy to provide an obligation free quote and adivce on the best and most economical way to deal with it.

Tank Installations
 

Sometimes a tank is at the end of its useable life and repairs are not economical. There is then not much in the way of alternative options but to replace the tank with a new one. We can install a new tank for you with a minimum of fuss.
